Business services are a broad category of industry sectors that support the operations and productivity of other companies. They offer a wide range of functions, from consulting and legal services to marketing and training. Some examples of business services include information technology (IT) services, human resources services and warehousing and shipping. Other business services include accounting, taxes, payroll and investments.
Business service providers help businesses create, develop and implement strategies that improve productivity, enhance business performance and deliver customer value. They are an important part of the European economy, contributing 11% of EU GDP. They are also a key driver of innovation and growth. The EU has taken a number of steps to boost competitiveness in the sector, including new regulations and policy actions that remove barriers for international trade.
A business service is a type of non-physical product or offering that supports a business process by providing expertise and labor. Unlike goods, they cannot be seen or touched but must be experienced through interaction and communication between the service provider and the customer. This is why they often require more involvement and communication from both sides and can vary in quality depending on who provides the service, where and when it is provided.
These services are not related to the production of tangible goods and include consulting, legal and financial services, training, management services and specialized IT services. They can be delivered either on-site or remotely, and are used by all sectors of the economy. They are an essential component of the modern economy, enabling businesses to provide their customers with a variety of products and services.
The service-providing industries supersector is one of the largest in the EU and encompasses a broad spectrum of activities. It includes both professional and business services, and consists of a large number of individual subsectors such as education services, recruitment and training services, cleaning and maintenance services and notarial services. The overall economic potential of the business service industry is considerable, but remains underdeveloped due to high levels of inefficiencies and persistent legal obstacles for trade across borders.
In the IT world, a business service monitors a set of IT services that work together to deliver a specific functionality, such as verifying Internet access or website hosting, online banking and remote backups. The term can also refer to a group of devices that delivers a distinct function, such as a DNS or Collector Group plus a database.
The Business Services page displays a list of business, IT and device services that you have access to, as well as basic info and the health, availability and risk metrics for each service. A default dashboard is shown for each type of service, and you can create custom dashboards for any service. You can also sync services between ServiceNow and ScienceLogic SL1. However, it is recommended that you build custom service models in SL1 and then export them into ServiceNow rather than building them in both systems.
