Entertainment is All Around Us

Entertaiment

From the clown at a birthday party to the stadium rock concert to your friends fighting over the last potato chip–entertainment is all around us. It’s amusement in the form of a performance–whether theatrical (a show), visual (art) or audio (music). The word entertainment derives from intertenere, from the Latin prefix “inter” and suffix “ten” meaning hold inside.

In this time of economic turmoil, many individuals and foundations are stepping up to meet our societal needs. One example is the SU2C (Stage to Cure) model that enables world-class scientists from different institutions to collaborate with each other in a way that will accelerate the pace at which breakthroughs are translated into major advances against cancer.
